Today's topic is about how to store cupcakes with frosting. I love cupcakes. Do you? Firstly, it is a bite-sized treat and can satisfy my sweet tooth craving with just one cupcake.
But it's just difficult to make just one cupcake. do you agree? It's a different story if you are buying from the store but homemade cupcakes are always good and you can't just make one cupcake. You need to make at least 6.
Then what to do with those remaining 5 cupcakes? How do we store them? Or you just want to store the remaining ones so that you can enjoy them for a long period.
I know how difficult it is to store cupcakes garnished with frosting. If you had a plain cupcake, it is fine. Just wrap them in a cling wrap and store them at room temperature, in the refrigerator, or the freezer. But it is not that easy with the frosted cupcake.
Of course. You can store the frosted cupcakes at room temperature, in the refrigerator, or the freezer. But its period varies depending on the type of frosting you have used on it. For example, buttercream can stay outside easily and so are your buttercream frosted cupcakes. Whereas, cupcakes with fruit filling or frosted with cream cheese frosting need to be refrigerated because of the perishable ingredients.
As I mentioned above, they can be stored at room temperature, in refrigerator or in the freezer.
Buttercream frosted cupcakes stay at room temperature for up to 3 days. Make sure to store them in a dry and cool place and in an airtight container to protect them from outside air.
Chocolate ganache frosted cupcakes stay at room temperature for up to 2 days. Just like the buttercream frosted cupcakes, place them in an airtight container.
Cream cheese frosted cupcakes or cupcakes filled with fruit filling can stay at room temperature for up to a couple of hours. After that, you need to refrigerate it as it contains perishable items.
Buttercream or chocolate ganache frosted cupcakes can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Cream cheese frosted cupcakes or cupcakes filled with fruit filling can stay in the refrigerator for up to 4 to 5 days.
Whichever frosting you choose to go with, make sure to store the frosted cupcakes in an airtight container so that it doesn't catch refrigerator odor.
